Nowadays, surgeries
are becoming more and more sophisticated
and requirements for clean operating rooms
are becoming stricter and stricter. According
to relevant statistics, up to year 1998,
there were only 2,000 clean operating rooms
found in 16,468 hospitals in China.
Since the 1998’s Beijing International
Conference of Hospital Construction Design
and Equipment, more and more hospitals have
lunched clean operating rooms. But then,
seeing that there were not unified national
technical standards and specifications of
clean operating room in China, many problems
in construction of clean operating room
happened: luxurious decoration, unqualified
clean grade, improper layout design and
etc.
For guiding the construction
of clean operating rooms, the Ministry of
Public Health of P. R. China edited GB50333-2002
Technical Specifications of Construction
of Clean Operating Rooms of Hospital and
then the Ministry of Construction of P.
R. China confirmed it in December, 2002.
GB50333-2002 is based on far-ranging investigations
and studies, serious analysis and summarizations
of many years’ experiences in construction
of clean rooms since China’s Reform and
Opening, as well as transplantations of
technical specifications and standards of
developed countries of construction of clean
operating rooms.

Operating Rooms of Hospital is being gradually
added, enhanced and improved. We believe,
in the near future the clean operating rooms
for hospital will be compulsory. Zhengda
